Newer than a hatchling to chickens

Welcome! There are so many people here who will give you much better help than I can WRT coop building, but I can tell you that a general rule of thumb when deciding dimensions is 4 square feet of coop space and 10 square feet of run space per bird, and that it is always smart to build bigger than you need, because so few of us can actually say we kept to the number of birds we started with, or thought we would start with. Plan for a coop and run that protects on all sides plus overhead and digging, and think about having to walk in there every day - which for us meant all our runs are 6 feet tall, because we are old people who are not good at bending over :)
