Newest TSC rescue.

She tends to peck at her chest level, we have food lower as well but she just walks through it, even if we try to coach her to it. For whatever reason she doesn't associate food with being at her feet, if she did it would be a whole lot easier. I think the only reason she understands the water is lower is because we dipped her beak so many times. Dipping her beak in food doesn't work as well.

Freeda is still hanging in there, she seems like she's figured out the layout of the brooder now and is holding her own. We still coach her to the food a couple times every day but she doesn't act like she's starving anymore. And she's still getting nutrical for additional supplementation but she's putting weight on now and seems like she may be eating on her own.I think her better eye might be fixing itself as more of her eye appears visible, and she does sometimes react when I reach in for her. Her bad eye is looking smaller now too.

She's about 2.5 weeks old now. I took some photos of her last night. She can see some things now. She reacted to the flash when I took a pic of her good eye, and you can see her pupil. She is still vision impaired though. When put in an unfamiliar area she tends to walk in circles and cranes her neck, obviously trying to see where she is but not getting much visual information.

Forgot to mention she's now feeding herself, we haven't had to help her find the food for about a week now.

Freeda made another milestone. The meat birds that live with her are not big enough to tip over the bowl of water, so it was time to upgrade them to a fountain. Freeda needed no help in figuring out how to drink from it!

It's been a while since I posted a Freeda update. She's outside now, living with the turkeys and Monica. The big girls peck her so I'm waiting til she's a comparable size to integrate. Freeda and her flock live right next to the big girls so they see each other every day.
