My name is Omanafire and I am excited to join BYC!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Just picked up 12 month old chicks, yesterday. Very excited to be raising a flock with my younger sister and brother. It is a new experience for all three of us.
(3) What breeds do you have?
3 Blue/red Wyandotte, 3 Cuckoo Maran, 2 silver laced Wyandotte, 2 Ameraucana, 2 Welsummer
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Learning to be a steward of animals to help sustain my family and be close to where our food comes from.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Designing life
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

I and my brother travelled 300+ miles RT to pick up the chicks from a wonderful down to earth couple who have a sustainable ethical farm in Washington State. She recommended the site. My siblings and I are both excited and somewhat nervous. We want to do what is best for the chickens health and our health.
