Hello, I have a hen that is 7 months old and about a week ago she started limping. I had some roosters in with her and thought they hurt her. After bringing her inside she had gotten worse. She acts like she had gape worms but I don't see anything in her throat. She now is not able to walk and she flops and will eventually lay on her side. I have tried antibiotics and started Safeguead today. Any help would be great...I really am trying to save her....

When she 'acts like she has gapeworms' is she just gasping? That can be due to extreme pain as well as quite a few other things. It doesn't sound good, sorry. She might have been injured by the roosters. Some other possibilities are botulism and Marek's.

Here's some very handy links, one of which includes a disease chart to help you diagnose, and the treatments for whatever diagnosis is correct... Bearing in mind many diseases have the same symptoms. Many also have the same treatments though.

If you go to the edis.ifas.ufl.edu link below, the first link, and scroll down for a while, it has a chart to help you diagnose by symptoms. It will save time as you won't be waiting on me to be online to check it after waiting for you to reply to the usual questions, like what do her poops look like, etc.

Hello again from yesterday. Gape worms wouldn't affect her walking. Is it possible for you to get her to a vet?
