Newly Adopted American Game Rooster - need advice on giving him company

Just a few days ago, I adopted an escapee rooster. From the photos, he looks most like an American Game rooster. He is extremely sweet and docile - to humans. I'm going to keep him, and now am thinking I probably need to get him some company as I keep hearing that chickens are social creatures and get lonely.

Gut sense is that I'd be nuts to try to get him male companionship. Problem is that I really don't want eggs or chicks. Advice? "If" I get him hen company, is just one hen ok, or too much "pressure" on her?

Bottom line, he's staying, and I really adore him already, and I'd like him to live a content life.

He is now moved to a 12x12' horse stall, completely enclosed now in chicken wire, in a barn with about 12 horses - and he can get up and roost at a level where he can see all the horses and whatever activity is going on in the barn.

It would be best best if you got two more birds, preferably hens, to keep him company. If you get another rooster, they'll fight.

I keep American Games. Many can be kept with only a single hen without issue of hen. Hen breed does not matter but make certain she is in good health. I often keep American Dominiques in with the game roosters since game roosters usually easier than American Dominiques on hens, especially when younger roosters involved.

You can also keep rooster by himself, many of mine are isolated in their own pens for a year at a time once they are about 8 months old. Such birds are easier to keep in good feather. Birds are use to educate kids are held under such conditions although I periodically bring them out for bouts of training. Such birds are exceedingly easy to train.

If birds kept free-range, expect no issues unless they can get to another flock.
