Newly hatched chick breathing heavy...

I have several eggs in the incubator & several that have hatched. I had one chick that hatched fine & by itself, but was breathing really heavy the whole time. When she fluffed out I put her in the brooder, but she died the next day. Anyone have any ideas as to why this chick might've died? I know it's a long shot but i thought someone might have had the same experience & figured it out. Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry that you lost a baby.

Sometimes, even though they may come out of the egg on their own without difficulty, there may still be something wrong inside of them that kills them afterward. If it was panting, perhaps its lungs never started working properly when it began breathing air.
