Newly hatched, do I cut it? Pic

Chick hatched overnight, still attached to the egg, do I cut it free? Its hard to tell in the picture but the string looked dry-ish.

or do you mean the chicken equivalent of an umbilical cord because if that is the case then leave it, when I first read this I thought you were talking about it being stuck to the shell.
 
It's the chick equivilant of a cord, he's dragging around half of the shell still, should I make the shell smaller? Should I just move him to a box alone with a friend and a light until it falls off? I didn't think cutting was a great idea, but I'm lacking coffee and my brain couldn't get creative!
 
Thanks for your help! I just got up and carefully broke all around leaving a small piece. Then he kicked out his leg an I realized it was just goo that got stuck to his leg...whoops! Freed him and am entirely less concerned :lol:
