I have two broody Muscovies, and the eggs in one nest started hatching yesterday. There are two drakes in the poultry pen as well, and my 7 week old chickens are getting acquainted (through the fence) to be added to the general population this week.
My question is... should I bring the ducklings into the house & put into the brooder? I raised my other ducks this way, but they were given to me as day-olds. I've never hatched eggs before!
The mama, LBD (Little Black Duck), hisses at me every time I approach her nest (which is tucked away so that the drakes can't readily access it. If I remove the ducklings, will she continue to sit on the remaining eggs?
I'm concerned with the ducklings not getting enough to eat, and the water source is a kiddy pool, which I know is a drowning hazard.
Sorry if this has been asked & answered before. I've been scouring the forum, but couldn't find the answers.
Thank you!!!
