Newly hatched, possible splay leg?

A balanced chick feed and extra B vitamins is all you can do. If it is a leg bone deformity, the chick may be able to figure out how to get along on it’s own. I haven’t treated any chicks with these, but many try to let the chicks live and see what happens. Some people try splinting, but I don’t know if it would help or not. If I did splint, I would use something light weight just for support, such as bandaids, tape, or strips of vet wrap. Here is a site that sometimes can be helpful:

I remember seeing a bandaid splint once, but no clue how I would go about forming it or placing it. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will pop over here and enlighten us all while I'm out driving. Feed store should be open by the time I get there. :hmmI'll grab vetwrap too, since I'm out and I use that stuff on everything.... like the old lady from the hot sauce commercial;)

I picked up purina start n grow for feed, and have a capful and half of raw acv in their waterer. It was the only non medicated feed they had in stock

Anything else yall think I could use while I'm there? Specific brand of chick vitamin or other booster? Fixing to head out now

Just got back. No service till now. Here's what I got. Just realized thy are the same product:rolleyes:. Seemed like the best thing they had there. They did not have the rooster booster brand you reccomended

I know I add it to the water, do I empty out the acv water first? Should I make a little concentrate of it and dropper it into my sick chicks mouth?

Eliminate the ACV.
Mix according to directions. If your chick is not drinking well, then you can give her some of the mixed solution by dropping drops beside the beak so she can take it in.

I would not give that long term since it's electrolytes too. Too much salt for giving more than a few days in a row, imho.

Makes sense. Overload of anything isnt good for anyone. I'll be doing that right now, then working on my chick chair.

I finally got the link to work. Looks like this chick chair is a cup bottom, with a chick sized hole cut in it, then cloth, with the appropriate holes cut into it, taped into the hole. Then bottle caps for food and water taped in that. Am I right?

I am assuming I want the chick to be able to fully extend his legs to the ground, but not really be able to put weight on them? How long do I leave him in the chair every day? Should I combine this with gobbles to try to help more?
