Newly hatched poult has twisted leg...what is it's chances?

As I learned this year turkey's size become a factor in cases like this. With chickens I would cull a chick born with a twisted leg. I had a turkey born that way this year & I let it live. At first it got around ok & I figured "since I'm gonna eat it anyway....". Unfortunately as it grew it got to the point where it's weight was just too much for it's leg & I ended up culling it anyway.
