Hi Folks,
I'm KCMike, Kansas City that is. But I really live in Liberty, Mo, a suburb that I love. Lived in several Kc locations the 27 years here in MO. Have no chicks, yet, but aspire. Have a pretty large garden that is about to get its first frost tomorrow, 11-5-2010. Need to pick and distribute peppers and bazil before the freeze. Trying to get self sufficient in "eating greens" with Patience Dock, et al. An unbelievable plant, its just delicious. Don't understand its scarcity. Also try to get self sufficient in onions. Planted my first potato onions this fall. Got a great row, 50', of Egyptian Onions. Its all edible, and its prolific also. I sure enjoy reading about the chicks and ducks. Hope to get some soon, or at least by spring. Had chix when I was a kid on the farm. The leghorns were sure prolific egglayers, guess I'll start with them. Hope to make a Chix tractor using plastic and metal dog kennels and bottom 2 bys for framing. Got a great eastern slope to my backyard for growing garden. (no shade). Just discovered this site tonite . Hope I can figger out how to optimize it for entertainment and info.

You'll find all kinds of info here, just browse the Index and read away. Hope you do get chicks soon.

It sounds like we are like-minded with our gardening. I hope I don't get a frost for a couple months yet. Seems that if you're going to garden, you might as well get a few chickens! Good luck with your chicken planning.
