How many and how big? I have four new girls - gold line ranger, pied suffolk, rhode rock and speckeldy. 2yo so laying is a little slower.

I've just made one rather rubbish looking box out of bits of scrap pallet wood to serve for now, but I'd like to make or buy something a bit better and long term, I'll have more chickens as well so I'd like to be ready for when they arrive. They will be a few more of similar size and hopefully, a couple of brahmas.

The best size is 16 inches on all four sides, that is the size I use anyway, for the Brahmas, I would up that to 18 inches an all of the sides. The nest boxes should be 2 feet tall, for safety measures, to make sure the chicken doesn't bang her head on entry and exit. The amount of nest boxes depends on the amount of chickens, ex: 8 chickens = 4 nests
