Next year, I want to add a standard size white egg layer breed to my flock. Which are your favorite

I want some white or tinted white egg layers so I can have all kinds of colors in my cartons for my customers. So, the breed will have to be a good egg layer, and as all the other breeds I own are friendly and docile, that is a must for the breed I choose as well. My flock is free range. Thanks for any suggestions you may have!

Leghorn is the way to go for white eggs.

You might want to look at Minorcas, WF Black Spanish or Andalusians as well. They are bigger than Leghorns so are somewhat more docile than the flighty Leghorns.
Other options for white egg layers would be: Anconas, plus many forget about Hamburgs also. They are a decent white egg layer. Dont just automatically think you have to buy a Leghorn if you want white eggs. They do lay alot of them but there are other options....

White Leghorns get the job done for me.

I have a couple of anconas, and they are pretty black with white spots, and lay a good size egg almost daily. One of mine has gone broody twice this year and raised her first brood very well. They are related to the leghorn and since they are on the small side they don't eat a lot, but are great foragers. There is another breed called exchequer leghorn that looks exactly the same. Meyer Hatchery carries both breeds.

I'm a leghorn lady here...got white & brown & adding silver in the next couple of weeks too. Also have Anconas. I'm adding Lakenvelders that I've read also lay white eggs, but this will my first experience with them, so anxious to see how that goes.

Norwegian Jaerhons are excellent layers of large white to tinted eggs, are excellent foragers, and eye candy as well.

I've been very happy with my Mottled Houdan, she lays a large white egg at least 6 times a week. She does well in my mixed flock, which has a barred rock, faverolles, tetratint, and a cochin rooster.
