Next Year's Chicken Breeds! UPDATED

We were raised to respect God's creatures and know how to behave ourselves. Just couldn't help myself in commenting there. Don't want to argue with anyone.

Thats great! Comment away, that's why we're here. I realize my own comments do not apply to everyone, but they do apply to many. Often enough a poster will be in fear of their life over a rowdy cock or not know what to do when a chicken pecks their smaller kids.
Have you ever seen the "Dog Whisperer" on TV? In essence Cesar, the namesake of the show, says YOU are in control. Where that lapses in the poultry yard, it's not the chicken's fault; it's the people. In your case, such things don't apply.

And believe me, your siblings know how to throw rocks.

Also, we do not have chickens because they 'look cute', either.
On the other and, MANY have them simply for that reason. Other considerations come second

We have never had a livestock animal like a chicken in the house; DIAPERS? Whoa.
Again, many people do just these things. It is hard to believe I know, but not everyone is you or me.

But you can't deny that once you 'get to know them' per se, they have some pretty great personalities. And they're plain and simple a lot of fun!
Agreed. Chickens are all of that. I liked the use of the phrase, 'per se', BTW.

per se: By itself; without consideration of extraneous factors.
Usage notes
Because this is a Latin phrase, it is usually italicized when written.

Oh, and curious, what does YMMV mean?
Your Mileage May Vary. It's an escape clause that implies everyone is different. I can't possibly know who will read these things, so I cover my bases with it.

If we were to have a chicken that was aggresive, it'd be time to say good-bye to it, unfortunately. That's simple not acceptable in our family, I guess. We all loved our second Rhodesian Ridgeback, Taz, but she had 'some wires crossed' in her brain that made her agressive at times. It was like an on/off switch, and you never knew what might trigger it. She knew it was wrong after the fact, sadly. Everyone loved her very much, but we had to put her to sleep last year due to some mistakes her breeder, a truly awful woman that I cannot stand, made in her lines. She was two.

WE NEVER THROW ANYTHING AT OUR CHICKENS. Period. I swear to you. Besides scratch or chicken feed.

I think I might have seen that show...

Yes, different people do different things for different reasons.

Of course, however, if you invest in an animal, you may as well get a good looking one.
