MICRO REX!!! I gotta have me one of them! Is she usually at all the swaps. I hope it wasnt the lady that sold the bunnies to the resteraunt guys!

Yes micro rex, smaller than mini rex and twice as cute.
Tiny bit larger than a Netherland dwarf but not as large as a Holland lop. cute cute.
There were No Micros at the last swap.

NOW!
Here we go again on the Resturant Guys and People who buy animals for food.

STOP IT,

No one has the right to get their nickers in a knot over what other people decide to do with their animals.
I have 35 rabbits, way too many roosters and 7 Tom turkeys that I do not plan on wintering over all of them.
the expense alone is cost prohibitive.
The monies generated from the sale of these animals for food/pets/breeders/ show stock is going to pay for feed and hay through the winter.
If you cant do things this way, it is fine, but on the other hand do not criticize those who have no other choice or recourse.
I think we have had this conversation and fuss fest on a different thread.

Yes, we have had this discussion. I AM NOT CRITISIZING THE PEOPLE THAT SELL ANIMALS FOR FOOD, but rather THE WAY IT IS DONE.I for one dont think no matter what the animals are used for am the only person disgusted at seeing them all placed on top of each other in small cardboard boxes, then put down on hot pavement in the sun and covered up to overheat while they shop from booth to booth. I am sure there a a lot of people that attend the swaps purchasing food animals, but do not blatently come out wearing aprons, overcrowding animals in boxes and picking them up in the way they should not be picked up in public. There is a subtle way to handle this and I am also sure that I am not the only one that feels this way, but may be the only one speaking up. If these people want to purchase animals from the swaps, perhaps buisness should be conducted either before or after the swap and in front or behind their establishment. Let their customers be privy to what we are exposed to. I am sure the majority of the shoppers we get at our swaps are purchasing pets at least in our area it seems this way. And if they are buying them for food, then I applaud them in their subtle way of doing so, especially since there are lots of kids present. And dont think for a minute that if the right person buying a bunny for little Suzie happened to see how the buyers were handling the rabbits, would not run home and call the humane society to come and check things out. As a matter of fact, the Humane Society did drive through the lot that morning. I know there are people that are using what we sell as food, but again, it is not played out in front of us by them yelling back and forth to each other "look this one, he big"...yes, I do understand some of the dialect. At least give the animals some dignity. I AM NOT CRITISIZING THE PEOPLE SELLING ANIMALS FOR THIS PURPOSE and I know all about feed bills, etc... I enjoy the swaps and would not want to see them come to an end because of something that could be handled by us in a better way.

After the money is paid it is up to the buyer to decide how the animals are handled.
It has nothing to do with the seller and if you think it does then your the one with the issue.
I will NOT respond to another one of these types of tyraids, if you cant handle what a buyer does or doesnt do ......

I am sorry but I must through in my 2 cents. I absolutely agree that people should be able to buy animals at the swaps and use them as they see fit. Whether it be as a pet or for food. However, the buyer(s) as well as the seller(s) should be straight forward about the intentions they have. I personally want to sell my animals as pets only and would be very upset if some one tricked me into selling them as food, but I do not begrudge my neighbor for selling their animals how they wish. I do firmly believe all animals MUST be treated w/ respect whether they are to go on your plate or in the barn. Lastly, If you don't want "tirades" to happen, you should not respond, people should be entitled to their opinions, all included.

I will give you everyone has an opinion.
Here is an opinion
while animals should be treated with respect, they should not be given human qualities, nor human emotions.
here is another opinon, personally I dont care if its well recieved or not.
IF your afraid your selling to someone who"might lie" to you, "might eat the animals" then leave them home dont sell them.
Its very plain and simple.
Not every buyer is going to be a pet home.

As for the Humane Society, AG Dept, State Vet, surprise surprise one or the other has been at every swap we have held.
guess what we were not shut down, no one was fined, no issues.
I will be very glad when the 20th is done and over,.
I am so done with this.

Better yet , I am done with it now.
someone needs to take over milford and now, signs need to go up flyers need to go out.

OMG!! been here and done this and here we go again
listen people. its obvious we cannot go into this again.
animals were food before they were pets. you choose to have yours as pets. fine. to others they are just food. if we cant agree we need to agree to disagree and get past it. dont bring it up again and we wont have these problems. please

No not at all just stating fact, the issue with the restrauant and the quiting has all been addressed before and it is not helpful to the swaps...not all animals will be pets and people have the right to buy them at swaps for what ever they choose BUT they should still be handled/housed properly.....We are not always going to agree and people need to agree to disagree.
