Niacin Deficiency in Waterfowl

Pics
We made a little more progress
Snuggles always leans left and starts her walk putting more weight on her left side
Yesterday for the first time she turned to the right and came out of the crate that way
She has never done that yet in 4 weeks I have had her
She is also getting much stronger and fighting my on her B complex ( poor girl just hates it )
It’s 4 weeks tomorrow since I started this journey with her
I told them when I took her in I would give it 4 weeks
But now that I see her making progress even if it’s slow it’s still progress we will continue on
There is 6 months of niacin deficiency to fix and that isn’t something that can be done quickly
Keep rooting for her :))

Just thought I would do an update
We had a slow week with no progress but yesterday she looked stronger on the one leg again
Her foot has healed up so well
I have been working on her joints trying to get them much more flexible
I may take her into the vet to have X-rays done to see that everything developed as it should
I have also found somebody who makes 3D printed leg braces
This may help her to walk
Her foot was in rough shape when I got her but had since started ti heal very well
The owner and I have talked and snuggles will be staying here
She feels it’s best but will still love updates as they miss and love her
Pics of her foot before and now as well as video of her from yesterday

We are 2 months into working with snuggles
In the first few weeks we saw the most improvements
Things have slowed down but we are still getting little ones
The biggest issue now is getting the one foot to uncurl when putting weight on it and being able to lift her body up
I have been exercising the foot ( ankle ) joint by holding it and pulling it forward
Having the foot open and flat like it should be
We have been doing this for weeks
2 days ago while doing it she just stood up
This was a huge deal as she has never had her leg fully extended and knee straight putting her body weight on it
I know it’s going to take more time to strengthen that joint so she can do it on her own
But we will continue therapy
In the video I was trying to show how I hold that joint and didn’t have her leg under her properly. You can see how fast she stood when I got it under her correctly
Sorry my hand is in the way but the joint is still weak and needs support
The fluffing of the wings you see is what she does after her bath. Just drying herself off
