Niacin deficiency

We've been raising chickens for awhile and decided that we would get 3 ducks as well. Everything was going well until we noticed one of the ducks was having trouble walking. She had large hocks and swollen legs in general. She was walking bowlegged and pigeon toed too, so we decided she probably had a niacin deficiency. That was two days ago and her hocks and entire legs have gone down, but she's still having trouble walking. She's about a month old, did we notice too late that she was having issues? And how long would it take for her to get better generally? (This is the duck.)

These sweet pekins need more niacin than most ducks. At this point you need to get liquid vitamin B complex ASAP and start dosing her right away. You may be able to get her back on track before permanent damage is done. You can get this at tractor supply, a feed store, or amazon. If she's having problems standing or her legs are splaying out, you may need to hobble her legs. Lots of people are having this same issue with naicin deficiency and you'll be able to look at numerous threads about it here on BYC to get more information. The important thing is to act right away to halt the damage and the liquid vitamin B is essential.

We went to a drug store and got niacin powder and have been putting it in their water while also feeding them different foods with niacin in them. Would the water be better than this? She's standing fine, but she almost steps on her other foot when taking a step.

We recommend Cattle B injectable Complex Durvet Brand, and put 1ml over treats or give it orally with a syringe/eyedropper. It's best not to give it in water since ducks will spill most of it on to their bedding. This is the exact brand you want-

I agree, the powder might not be enough. You can continue to do that but add the vitamin B complex as well.
