Niagara falls

mom'sfolly :

But fuzzy rodents are cuuute!

yep they are.... in my cats mouth..... they are really bad here.... chew through everything

I grew up in Rochester, NY, which is only an hour away from Niagra Falls, so we went there usually about once a year or so. Both sides have a lot to offer, depending on what you are looking for.

The American side has viewing areas on Goat Island, that get you really close to the edge of the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. The "Cave of the Winds" tour brings you to viewing platforms at the base of the falls and gets you really close -about 20 feet. There is a small, but nice aquarium and a Daredevil museum. Both sides have Maid of the Mist tours, which is a "must do"! It is an incredible experience getting so close to the falls!

The Canadian side has a walkway with the best overall views of all the falls. They also have a tour called "Journey Behind the Falls" in which brings you through underground tunnels that having viewing areas behind Horseshoe Falls and to a viewing platform near the base of Horsehoe Falls. Really amazing! A block away from the falls is an area called "Clifton Hill", which depending on your tastes, is either a tourest trap, or the greatest selection of wax museums ever. Even though it is touresty, it is fun. There is "Ripley's Believe it or Not", "The Guiness Book of World Records", several haunted houses, etc. There is a Jungle themed restaurant which is interesting. Just be aware that to cross over to the Canadian side, you will now need passports. (This is new, since Homeland Security regulations kicked in.)

Here is a link which lists attractions on each side.

Looks like a lot to do.
I can't wait it's gonna be fun.
Judging by what I have seen so far It looks like Canada here we come!
Why so many squirrels?

there is not an over load like an infestation.... but where I live, I live in a conservation area and there are trees everywhere... the parks of Niagara on the Lake... also provide great nesting areas for them

Cus we don't eat them LOL! I don't think they have done a study to compare who has more. In our area we have so many, they are everywhere cats won't touch them and we have tough leash laws so rarely do dogs roam.

I remember seeing both grey and black (same species as grey, just a different color variant) in the parks on the Canadian side. Not so many black squirrels on the American side for some reason. I recall specifically looking for them each time we visited when I was a kid.

My Mom was from Buffalo, and most of my family on her side lives in or around Buffalo. I have been there many times. The Canadian side is much nicer with many attractions. Make a day and night of it so you can see it with the lights at night also. Will

My entire family is from Niagara. My mother (growing up) lived so close to the falls that she could feel the mist on a windy day. The Niagara side is sooooo much prettier and much more to do. Ride the Maid of the Mist. It's worth the wait to get on it.
