Nice roo comments?????

It seems like there's a lot of posts here of people unhappy with their roosters for one reason or another.

Please tell me if you like having a rooster around and why. How many "bad" (or soup pot) ones did you have to go through? Are most of them good and occasionally you get a mean one?

And yes, growing up a city girl, this is my first experience with chickens and I LOVE having them. But I will admit, I've heard lots of rooster horror stories. But they can't all be bad, right?

I'm thinking of getting a Light Brahma roo as they are supposed to be more docile.

I think the best characteristic of the dominant of my two roosters, is that he is an alarm system. If someone, or something, is outside, he crows repeatedly. I've learned to trust him when he does that. Even if something isn't there, I still keep my eyes peeled. Neither of them attack me, but they can be annoying at times

Nope, sorry.

The younger ones are nice enough. But all the ones I've had, once they start getting up in age, you know, like 6 months, they turn into hellions.
I'm sure SOMEONE on here has had a nice rooster.

Ive only had 4 or 5 and they have been nice. My brother has had one and it is mean. I thinks it genetics and luck of the draw.

I have one rooster that is nice, his picture is under my name. I had to get rid of a bantam cochin very mean.

I like having my roosters around because they are friendly and great with their girls.

If they were nice, why don't you have them anymore?

I do still have two of them, the others have been placed out over time because I have a small area and cant keep all the roos I hatch.

I have red pyle modern game bantam right now if anyone is looking?

i have 9 bantie roos and 1 standard roo. and they are all nice. i have never had one attack me except my sebright roo. he will try to but i turn around and he runs off. he knows in the dominant roo.

I've had very good luck with my roosters. I have a blue breasted red old english game rooster, and a corresponding female. I love him, he comes into the house and hangs out with the dogs and begs for food. Sweet guy. His hen is mean, though. Past ones have been sweet beyond all belief though. Albert (the rooster) also saved this current hen's life. We had two, and the skunk that dug in killed one, but albert ran the skunk off. The skunk didn't even get a chance to take the hen's body.

As for standard sizes, I have a silver wyandote rooster named Goober. I live way out in the boonies, and he has been invaluable in protecting my girls. I would never go without a rooster!
