I'm Lori and I have a flock of 3 hens in my Seattle backyard. I had a pair of backyard hens many years ago. I decided to get another little flock last year while under covid restrictions. I'm so glad I did, I just love to garden and to be with my hens.
Three hens, three different breeds. In pecking order: Betty the Barred Rock, Hazel the Black Star, Alice the Rhode Island Red
We also have a toy poodle who gets along with the flock for the most part. Occasionally there will be a ruckus and I'll find either the hens are ganging up on a terrified crying dog; the dog is bouncing and at and growling at a terrified hen; or the dog is protecting the hens from squirrels.
I am so glad to have this community. I've learned a lot that has helped me to create a healthy habitat for the hens and I keep coming back for more.
