nice variation in coturnix eggs

I didn't realize that they could have the same chalky bloom that chicken eggs sometimes had. Or that they would be so wide ranging in pattern, from almost white with the slightest peppering to almost all brown and tricolors.

Sometime in the future you will probably get even more variations. Green colors and darker colors and double yolked giants. Those are usually from stressed birds who have been moved or bothered so it's good for those to be rare in flocks but interesting none the less.

thanks guys, I wish i could take credit for them, but i bought them. I candled them tonight, of course couldn't see much, but i was again surprised by the interior color difference, there were many whites and beiges but also blues and greens. the extra chalky one in the top right was very thick. fingers crossed for a good hatch so i can collect my own eggs hehe.

It's easier just leaving them in the incubator instead of cooling them down trying to candle.

looks like what i pull daily from my quail coops. the white one is a bit odd but still have seen them none the less. as well as blues,greens,all whites, and tiny to huge double yolks. Japanese quail are really cool. they lay like chickens but act like no other quail other than CPQ. mature in 7-9 weeks (for me personally) i dont get 6 week old layers like some others. but i mostly raise A&Ms and Jumbo wilds. they mature a bit slower but not much.
