Her nictating membrane seems to be covering more of her eye then it should. Does anyone know if this is normal or what this possibly might be?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank u. :)

Here is one other picture.

If she wasn't always this way, then it's not normal for her.

Some breeds have more inner eyelid or nictitating membrane showing around their eyes, like some breeds of dogs where the inner eyelids show. Generally though the inner flesh shows, not that membrane. So I would consider it may be a symptom of something wrong.

It can be a symptom of injury, illness, neurological symptoms, etc. Having said that, it's not easy to diagnose... Maybe someone who knows more can tell you. Best wishes.

Thank you for your reply. Yah, she was not always this way. The only thing I could find what might be causing it is too much ammonia from their poop. She has been in a separate yard healing from a bad case of bumblefoot the last few months, and sleeping in a crate with one other chicken at night. I'm thinking maybe this has something to do with it because although the crate is outside, not much air flows through it and maybe the ammonia levels build up through the night, even though I do clean it out everyday. This has been my only theory, so I have moved her back out to the main coop today and where there is more air flow throughout the night and I'm also going to clean the coop more often and hopefully that will help.

Thanks again!
