Niederrheiner sexing help?

Hello, I have two niederrheiner chicks about 5 weeks old. Are they both cockerels?

Waiting for their brooder to be cleaned out

Darker one is standing tall on the heat plate, lighter one is perched facing front

Looks like both are cockerels.

Both cockerels! What varieties are they? Is it just variation in the lemon cuckoo? Don't see many of them on this forum!

I think we were told lemon cukoo but heck we were also told they were girls. Here's the sign from the bin they were in.

Well this stinks - we can't have roosters here. I was pretty excited about this breed.

I'm sorry They are such a cool breed! Pretty McMurray is one of the only if not the only major hatchery that carries them too

If your plan is rehoming, hopefully you will have an easier time at least! I bet if you throw some pics of them on your local facebook group with some pics of adults of that breed and your chicks someone will be interested! They're beautiful

Good idea! I might give them a couple more weeks and then do that.

Update: here they are at about 11 weeks. No bites on the rehoming front yet. My daughter still wants to believe the lighter one is a hen.

They are both definitely cockerels. No doubts.

Keep trying. It's hard but it can be done.
