Ciao,my name is Shona and I live in northern Italy. My seven chickens, one cockerel, three dogs, three cats and a water turtle live in an organised mess about 50km from Milano. This As far as I know chickens as pets are not common here in Italy and the vets I called to help with a case of suspected bumble foot could hardly control their sniggers! The most common cure was the microwave! The vet I eventually found who was willing to see Bianca (very original name) kept shaking his head and murming "If only it were a falcon." ????? Insisting on an xray, we found a dislocated toe, poor baby, even then he wasn't particularly enthusiastic about treating her and I ended up repositioning and strapping her up myself. This website has been great for me, a new chicken enthusiast. Impacted crop, bumble foot, pasty bottom and fancy hen houses, I lurked and I found the answers. Thank you.
