mr. beams mb3000 dusk to dawn stair lights two pack. $7.99
Dust till dawn (photo cell on/off), one AA battery, amber or white low light . Battery lasts three month.
My new layers would drop eggs on the poop board before i put a soft light glow on the poop board so they could see to get to the nest box. I put on on the bottom roost bar and one in a nest box. They could see to get down and find the nest box.
new layers can't hold it for long darknight winter nights.
Nothing is more disappointing than waiting for that first egg and finding it broken on the poop board. They want to use the nest box and will, if they can see to get to it. Its not an issue with older layers or when the nights are not long.
Older layers cycle can ajust as they hold it an hour longer for the sun to come up. its not new to them and they have been there done that. New layers need the low light.

Does it ever get light enough in the nests for the light to turn off?
Wondering if a lighted nest might draw them to 'roost' in there?
