I have begun locking my two young pekin ducks in a large dog kennel at night. Do they need food and water in there? I lock them in at dusk and let them out about 6:30 am.

I do same with my calls--only they are in a hutch thing.. but no, I think they are fine overnight like you have going. In later, out earlier.... mine start qwaaaakin' if I am running behind! lol!

I lock up 14 ducks in 2 pens each night- and each pen has a bucket of water- Although it is messy- I find they do need it. Especially in the middle of summer- Being in a smaller confined space through the hotter months you should look to some way of them having access to water throughout the night. Food is not so much an issue. They can easily wait til the morning for breakfast.

I think the are 4 to 6 weeks. I got them at TS when they 1st came. They look like big ducks now.
My problem is where to put the food & water in the kennel where they won't spill it. They are spending the day in the fenced back yard and
Locking them in the house in the kennel at night due to possible night preditors. A pen is on my honey do list.
