Hey there, I have some 9 week old Brahmas. I am going to be going on holidays for a week and I was wondering if to save someone coming morning and night to let them out of coop and back in morning and night.... could I get away with just having someone keep an eye on feed and water and let them stay in or put as they please as long as the run has a roof and is fully enclosed from predators? I have to encourage them into the coop at night right now, will this change?

thanks

As long as you feel your run is secure enough and don't mind them potentially sleeping outside the entire time, nothing says they have to go inside.

You may want to assess your coop to figure out why they don't want to go in - is it dark? Stuffy? Poor ventilation? Too hot?

Mine go in around sunset to roost which I think is pretty normal.

If your run is secure then you can leave it open. How long have you had them in the coop? I just spent 3 days training my 3 weekbolds to use the ramp and go in at night. They went in last night by themselves. If you have had them in the coop for a while then I would reevaluate your coop to make sure it's big enough and has enough ventilation
