So, my father in law asked us to put up out trail cam in his coop to find out what was killing his chickens at night. He'd find them in the morning with their heads bit off.

So we did...and let me tell you this owl that we catch on video walks right up to the opening of the coop where the chicks go in and out and peeks his head in. We didn't catch it killing anything, but that was enough to prove to us what was doing it. I'm going to try and upload it and post a video. It was a wicked video!!!
 
Decapitation and eating of the head is very much a killing pattern of the GHO. They are persistent and will continue to return. Tell your father in law to close up the coop each night. That owl will return.
