I don't think a thief is going to care if a car is of particularly high quality if he is stealing it... He is going to prefer something easy to manipulate, and a poorly designed alarm system/safety switch.

let's say the thief has any sort of brains about him, he's going to know his cars and that means knowing which ones he can get a good deal on if it's generally known as a reliable vehicle.

He's going to want something hard to track, won't stand out like a sore thumb, and yet still decently valuable.

Most of those vehicles are very nice, but they attract a lot of attention.
