My hair is fairly short, and I had like this messy kind of style, and when I asked her to trim my bangs, she cut the really straight on one side, so it lost the messy look. :/

Cats and dogs lose their whiskers all the time, so I'm pretty sure it's normal. I think animals shed them the same as they do hair.
