you can change the settings so they won't email you as much

It's really easy! At the top of the page where it says "private messages" and "subscriptions" on the right hand side, click on the subscriptions one. Then scroll all the way down and click the button that says "Set ALL subscriptions to site only". Then you'll stop getting the emails.

I was getting drowned in emails for a while too before I figured out how to shut that off.
