Im having trouble getting those nipple waterers to work. they leak like crazy. Right now I tried to set them in a 1" pvc, but maybe there are other more suitable materials?

I now have mine in a gallon milk jug no problem. It took a few tries and the hole size is critical. What size drill bit did you use and is it te push in or screw in type. Ive read the push in are better. Waterproof silicon is also an option.

I have the screw in type, i got the right size bit, but dripping into a 1" pvc wasn't easy to do, I dont have a drill press. Am trying silicon on the leaky ones, but am under the impression better off starting from scratch.

How did you drill the milk jug? Aren't those kind of thin?

Those look pretty neat, do you add ACV to your water? Stainless should be safe right?

For some reason the ones I got from a fellow BYC member look like stainless, but have some discoloration from the elements that appear to be rust.

I used to put ACV in my metal waterer I got fro the feed shack, the normal galvanized metal ones, and the vinegar seems to react with that type of metal.

I have the screw in type in a milk jug. They are thin. I just used a drill and a sharp x-acto knife to clean up the hanging chad. I used some paste type, pipe dope rather than silicone. It has been working great for a month.

I wonder if the problem might be in using the 1" PVC...with such a small diameter there might be so much curve the nipple can't get tight to the surface and make a seal. We used the push-in kind with 4" PVC and they're working great.

Pitcher from the dollar store. Correct drill bit is definitely the key. No leaks. ACV is no problem.

Must have been the 1" pvc... Switched to a Home Depot bucket and the nipples are working just fine. Got all hung up thinking I had to go with pvc tube, doh!
