NJ - Sussex County Poultry Fanciers Annual Fall Show 2014

Sorry for the entry date confusion, everyone! I've tried several times to edit that post, but it won't let me. Hopefully future seekers will realize the entry date is listed after the show date. Sigh.

Good Morning! I am excited about coming up and seeing all the chickens. And maybe even meeting Peter Brown. I am not going to be showing my birds, or purchasing new birds (For now, y'all know about chicken math). Do you need volunteers to help out? I would like to be more involved with other 'chicken people' lol.

My daughter and I may come up to the show. We are looking for a few more laying hens and possibly some pure breds for her to show 4H. We've never done this before--can some one tell me the best time to get up there to buy? Also, are the birds at this kind of show generally vaccinated for Mericks and possibly coccidosis?

Thanks!

Address is:

Sales are whenever the seller wants to sell. Exhibitors are usually preparing birds up until 9am, so mostly after that.

Vendors are officially open at 9am, although some may be ready before that.

Ticket auction is between 1:30 and 2pm - whenever the ladies are ready.

We don't know whether the birds being sold are tested for Mareks. You have to ask the individual sellers.I don't know of a vaccine for Cocci. Only medicine, and medicated feed. There are purebreds and mixes available.
