No chicken food, STARVING CHICKS

What do I feed my chicks when the commercial feed runs out and I don't have a way to get more for a while?

If, your belt is getting that tight. It might be time to process your chickens. Then they are not starving and you have some calories for yourself. If they are considered pets and that is not something you can bring yourself to do. Advertise to rehome them or contact a shelter, if there is one in your area. To feed them in the meantime. Cook a pot of unseasoned beans and a pan of cornbread for them, if you have it on hand. Table scraps, vegetable peelings. They will eat almost anything!

! Pleased you joined us! For a period of time until you can get them chick feed, they can subsist on things like cooked rice, chopped up boiled eggs, chopped up greens. Good luck and thanks for joining BYC!

Is the issue that you can not afford the feed or that it is currently not available where you are? If it is that you can not afford it, you may be able to find someone in your area who would give you some feed to tide you over in exchange for cleaning out their coop etc. If you can afford it but just can't get it, again you may find someone willing to sell you some of their feed if they have ample.
