No Chicken Whisperer Here!

Ok, I was checking out other threads on how to sex my bird, and everyones chickies seem so calm and docile (BO's). Not mine, they are total lunatics...when I go in the coop they race around, flapping thier wings acting like I have the axe in my hand ready to kill them.
Obviously I am not the chicken whisperer, but how can I calm them down...just a bot, ok, maybe alot...?

Pull up a chair and sit with them. Bring a book and a cold beverage. Put some treats on the ground near your feet, even on your shoes. Don't reach, let them come to you. Then start offering the treat in your hand. Come up with a call (here, chicky, chicky type thing) and use the same one each time you put out a treat.
