Hi I’m very very new to this. I live in NY. I just got my first duckling. Yes I said duckling. Singular. I volunteer at a wild life rescue and someone brought in a 3 day old domestic Mallard. I took him home to raise. I have no experience with ducks or chicken or any domestic birds for that matter, but it seems in the week that I’ve had ducky all questions I’ve had has been answered here on this forum. Thank you all for amazing info and helping me

Thank you. I was going to. I’d like to get him at least one other. Is it safe to do that. And from my understanding in NYS you can’t buy less than 6 at a time. It seems he’s “imprinted” on me and my husband. How could I go about getting another?

Try a private breeder. They are more willing to work with you.
Try joining the Upstate NY Chickens FB group or another FB poultry group in your area and posting there. I saw someone post recently who had 10 eggs in the bator and only one hatched so she was desperately searching for a companion or two for her lone hatchling. She found some within a day of posting. Good luck.
