Hi all,

About a year ago I relocated, both geographically and culturally, from "city life" in the Midwest to 11 acres in SW Virginia. My plan has been to become as self-sufficient as I can manage. So far, I've nothing to brag about...lol. But chickens are high on my list, hence my presence here.

Over time I do expect to be asking a lot of questions as I look forward to having a safe, open, humane and chemical-free environment for a few chickens.

Presently I'm expecting to get some chickens for only their eggs, but do intend to migrate to having some for meat as well.

Anyway, that's my story to this point. Thanks for the membership and I do look forward to this journey with the help of so many who know all there is to know about chickens.

Carpe diem!

Already started reading posts there. Lots to read! Thank you!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in becoming self-sufficient.

Thanks, Michael, but I probably won't be asking many questions, at least anytime soon, what with all the super reading material on here! Wow!

nj2wv, thank you. Have to take a break from all the reading, however, as my eyes are rebelling...lol.

You're welcome. We are here if you need to ask something that's not covered in the BYC reading material. :o)
