Hi everyone!
I'm Andrea and I live in a suburb of Salt Lake City, UT with my husband and almost two-year-old son. We have several friends who raise chickens and the amazingly wonderful eggs we've been given and the fun they've been having are rapidly convincing us to get our own! I'm very convinced and I think I have my husband convinced (he saw a chicken coop for sale the other day and almost brought it home for me!). We are still discussing the specifics, but I hope to start building our coop this weekend.
In my city we can have five chickens and five chicks at a time, no roosters and no crowing hens. I think we'd like to get two or three and see how it goes. It gets into the single digits for a few days in the winter and into triple digits for awhile in the summer, so we'll be looking for a fairly weather hardy breed. We do have cats, but they are inside only so won't be bothering the chickens.
I'm sure I'll have a ton of questions as we get closer to actually buying our chickens and then as we get a routine down with them, but for now I just wanted to introduce myself and say hi!
