Hi, Here I am diligently introducing myself. I'm a retired old fart in NE Minnesota. (I'm hoping that's OK to say because I'm seeing "poop" a lot here.) :^) I have a cabin 30 miles away that I can't get enough of in the summer. I love to tinker, so there's always another shed being built, or a new dock, something to do with my hands. The winter is another story. I tinker in the garage ... build bird feeders, doll beds that my daughter sews bedding for and sells, a log couch for the cabin, ... any goofy thing that I feel like.
The cabin is on a quiet lake near the family homestead where my dad and his family was born and raised. It was a typical small farm with 25 cows, a couple teams of horses, a pig sty, chickens and ducks, vegetable gardens, plumb trees, everything it takes to sustain a family. Even though I grew up in the city, I'm fairly familiar with farm living. We visited "up home" every weekend of my childhood.
I live in a suburb where chicken raising is legal. Actually it became legal just a couple years ago and I don't know of anyone in my neighborhood doing it, presently. Also, my wife says NO WAY so I have an uphill struggle. Anyway, I thought it can't hurt to get a few million chicken questions answered now that I've found this great site.
I'll be around, reading and asking questions.
