No clue on breed, trying to learn how to tell gender.

This is a pea comb...and no would not be a Marans...Marans have single combs and will not have heavy feathered feet and pea combs...that is likely a Brahma...or a mix...possible with a pea combed Easter Egger...or again simply a Brahma. And this is male...3 rows of peas and a lot of comb.

An Easter Egger is a hybrid, mixed breed, bird of any breed on one side and Ameraucana or Araucana on the other side...so they vary a lot in appearance. I still think you still possibly have one or two Marans in the batch as several look like Marans in your first photos...but maybe it was just the photo angles as the second batch of photos clearly show other breeds as well. Thus you have a mixed flock. Lady of McCamley

Thanks so much for all the help. I'll try to isolate them one at a time this weekend. A mixed flock sounds just fine to me. I'm only looking to have eggs. Can't have roosters, so all my roos will have to become dinner. I have four more that are all supposed to be girls, but they're only three weeks old at the moment.

I edited and reposted after reviewing again...you might have some Marans in the Easter Egger as someone might have been trying to get an Olive Egger which is a Marans/Ameraucana mix...so if THAT was your EE in the parentage, it would explain why some of them look like Marans but have color flaws, and some have pea combs...doesn't explain the heavy foot feathering and some of them look Cochin/Brahma mix.

No doubt you'll get fine eggs...I enjoy my "mutts" as they are hardy and good egg layers.

Easiest thing would be to call the seller back and ask her about the breeds again. Sounds like she loved talking about her birds and would be fine with reviewing them with you. They're obvious mixed breeds. Personally, I'm thinking Cochin, with the very heavy feathered legs, but not pure as the body type isn't correct.

I honestly don't see either Leghorn or Easter egger.
