No Clue???

No we didn't know she was a rooster when we got her. We live in Tacoma Wa. They outlawed them in our city. We'll have to give her away. Thanks for your help. I'm sooooo sad.

Oh, I'm so sorry Jenna! I read your post with interest because I also have a black copper marans that I suspect may be a cockerel. Have had chickens for over 3 years but not this breed. My other marans chick is obviously a girl. Mine are 9 weeks old and the "suspect" has a very large comb and wattles that are turning red. Wish there was a way to keep a rooster from crowing! My town doesn't allow roosters either.

I'm so sorry that you got this news.. It is indeed a rooster, and there is no doubt about that. Sexing is never 100% (unless they are sex linked).

I hope he finds a good home where you can visit him when you wish :)
