no egg in over a week..normal or not?

I got a old english cuckoo bantam a couple of weeks ago.
she laid an egg on the 9th and the 13th, and nothing since!
Is this normal for a bantam?
I am not feeding her laying type food....is that bad?
New to chickens, so I haven't learned yet!

My other question is my supposed barred rock hen which might be a cochin, has been making semi crowing sounds.
I have heard this can happen in hens....right or wrong?

A hen crowing is not too unusual. Egg laying can take a month or two to get going if moved to a new place. As for feed. Get layer asap so they can have what they need to make eggs out of.

how loud can a female crow be?
I don't want irritated neighbors!

I think the heat may have affected the egg laying also.
I didn't know that could happen until reading some posts about it>
