First time blogger and first time flock owner. Hi ya'll my name is Maylen:)
I have a beautiful little five hen flock that I raised from chicks and they are all
exactly a year old. They have been a great joy to our family and we love them!
We feed them an organic feed and lots of kitchen scraps too, mostly vegetarian in
nature. They get let out into our garden and neighborhood almost daily and
always come running when we call them or need to put them away for any reason.
Until last week we have had great egg production, lower in the colder months but
usually two a day at least. Then it all just stopped. We have been keeping them in
just in case they are laying around the garden, so it's not that. They have had good
water supplies always, so it's not that. The only thing I can think of is that they have had a
fright of some kind(i.e. neighborhood dog).
Any way, any one know if they will ever start laying again??

Yes, I'm sure they will lay again.

Could they have a hidden nest or could something be taking/eating/stealing the eggs?

They may just be taking a break. Mine layed pretty well most of winter then just stopped for a month or more, and now Im starting to get eggs again.
So it depends, they might start laying again soon or a week or longer.

This is so cool! Love getting answers so quickly.
Don't think there's any burglaries around and
pretty sure they aren't laying elsewhere since we have been keeping them
in their coop and run for over a week since they stopped laying.
I also thought they might be taking a break but wasn't sure they did that
and now I know they do. Thanks, this all makes me feels better already.

I have a small cochin friz, I sold her friends and she's alone and moved to another pen after her new friend didn't work out. She hasn't laid an egg in month's. Sometimes when hens go through a molt they stop for a period of "rest". Add some vitamins to their water for a couple days and things should pick up soon. All breeds are not the same and even within a breed things are not the same. There are times in developing the perfect standard bird there is a trade off in production. "Nice" looking bird "less" eggs.

All the best
