No eggs at 5 months & could a 18% protein layer feed?

Congrats!

The 'smell' has nothing to do with it.

Fake eggs/golf balls in the nests can help.......but it can take up to a month or so for the egg laying to smooth out.
Meanwhile, eggs everywhere, some of them can be rather funky looking, soft or thin shelled, huge double yolked eggs.
They want a place to lay that they feel safe, secure and comfy...but can also drop eggs anywhere until they get the hang of it.

Have they been in the nests at all...checking them out, making an absolute mess of the nest bedding?
Pics of inside your coop showing roosts, nests, etc would really help for us to spot things that might need improvement.
[/thank you. I have nesting pads in the 3 boxes that I got at Coastal & have fake eggs in them. I'll keep doing what I'm doing then. 6 eggs so far. I think just one of my ladies is laying. I thought 2 but am only getting 1 egg a day right now. They are large, clean with hard shells so I'm pretty please. I'll keep my eyes open.

You can check vents and pelvic points to see who is laying and who is not.

Vent:
Dry, tight, and smaller - usually not laying.
Moist, wide, and larger - usually laying

Pelvic Points 2 bony points(pelvic bones) on either side of vent:
Less than 2 fingertip widths apart usually means not laying.
More than 2 fingertip widths apart usually means laying.
