no eggs for 8 weeks?!

we have 3 silkies. they were consistently laying one to three per day. we also had a rooster, who was really good to them. sadly he got taken by a hawk. then they stopped laying. Could it be they miss him? are scared by what happened? or is it the august heat we had? or are they laying somewhere in hiding? They roam in our whole backyard openly, and usually return to their coop at night.
any ideas?

How old are they?
If they stopped laying immedietly after your rooster sadly left them, there might be a connection. 8 weeks is a long period of time though.

Yes Molting can take several weeks for some birds.
