my rooster died over a week ago and I got a new one and put it out there and still havent recieved one egg from those slackers ! I dont want to have to go out and buy nasty old eggs but I dont know what to do !

The hens don't need a rooster around to lay eggs for you. Is it possible the rooster is eating the eggs? Try putting him in jail for a couple days.

I dont know if its possible but I just got rid of my rooster and my egg count went down and Im thinking that the change of him being gone is what happen (Just me thinking and I really could be wrong) So maybe just the change there too. Im sure someone will let me know if Im wrong

chickens can slow down due to a loss in the flock, they are showing signs of endearment for their lost fellow.... I would look for an egg eater also, if never had a problem before look at the new boy

I went out there yesterday to find one lonesome egg with a little peck mark on it. the egg wasnt broken but it was kicked out of the nest, and oddly enough I have one hen that seems to be wanting to go broody but shes laying in an empty nest ? I do have 4 other 2 month old babies in there too but they have never been an issue with the egg laying before. theres been no other issue other than my rooster dying so im still trying to figure out what gives ??????

What did your first rooster die from ? Is the replacement rooster a rooster you already had and just relocated from another pen ? Or did you bring this rooster in from another source? If so, did you quarentine him first ?
