I have raised chickens for 16 years, I have 9 hens who will be 2 years old in spring. My rooster died 2 months ago and ever since then, my hens stopped laying. I live in MD and it's cold, but I do have a light that goes on at 6 AM and goes off at 7 PM. I have not changed their diet, nor no fox have been stressing them. Does anyone have any sugestions? Or do I have to wait till spring? Thanks!

from California, have you read this article yet? Hope it is helpful. https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/423023/why-arent-my-chickens-laying-here-are-your-answers

I read the link my chicken lovers, but no new ideas:(
I guess I have to talk to them more! Lol

I forgot the names of the breeds, but I had these chicks before and now they are not laying...is it global warming...not!

Hello and welcome to BYC

The shock of losing the rooster and shorter days may be to blame. Are your hens molting? They are the right age..

I have wonderful news to share with all the caring chicken people out there...I took advise from you and I received 2 eggs yesterday! I applied oyster shells to their diet and made new beds for them!

Thanks again:)
