Well, I had noticed he was a bit rough, but then it started getting worse. For example, if I would go out to give them treats, and one of the hens got to it before him, he would chase her and pull out chunks of feathers. Also, there is one hen he is particularly rough with.. All of her tail feathers and a strip going about an inch and a half up her back are missing. Then, the finally straw was when I went out one afternoon and one of the hens was bleeding. I'm not new to the world of hens, but I've never had a rooster before because of this very reason. I knew stress could cause them to stop laying but I thought I was reducing the stress by taking him out. Hopefully things will go back to normal soon and they will start laying again.
