my peahens are driving me crazy! when are they going to lay? I go out everyday to give them a little treat and check their pen and no eggs. I don't care who they breed with I just want babies. am I just crazy or are they ever going to lay. and to answer your question, my 3 of my 4 peahens are 3 years old (I have 2 three year old cocks also). the 4th pea hen and cock are only one year old.

I gave them their treat today and I look up and my white pea hen is two foot in front of me like where's my goodie. I just wanted to go where's my egg!

Tell me what you are doing!

Yours is one of those questions that we could answer more specifically if we knew where you lived.

Here in the middle of everywhere peas normally start laying the first of May. I don't know why but this year my Cameos started laying March 22nd, my IB pen has given me two eggs in the last three days. Be patient, they can't hold out forever.

We are in south central PA and we are in the same boat. Lots of calls and mating charges, but so far I haven't seen a hen cooperate and we've gotten no eggs. Last year in was around the 1st -2nd week of May when they started.

I am a bit surprized you are not getting eggs yet. If you want to go out and check for eggs, go out between sunset and dark thirty, that is when they lay. The first timers will generally lay from the perch, so you might want to put some hay under the perches. I watched one lay from the perch last night without anything but dirt under it and the egg did not crack, my perches are over six foot high so I can walk under them. I hope the air sack is ok...
