I have

8 hens, 3 Buff Orpingtons, 12mnts old.
2 Isa Browns, 2 1/2 years old.
1 Australorp, 3 year old, &
2 mixed cross 6 - 8 mnths old. in the last week I have recieved I egg..
1 Rooster.

they do share with ducks but they are happy and their is plenty of room.

I am almost over it and have little paitence left. As far as I know all I can do I have,

* layer pallets
* Free range every day ( searched everywhere no hidden spots where they are laying )
* Clean water and coop.
* good hutches ( mower catchers complete with golf balls.)
* clean water.
* Summer here so at least 15hrs daylight a day.
* no disturbances
* no predators birds, rats ect..
* they are not eating their own eggs.

Please help, I don't understand I should be getting at least 35 - 40 eggs a week. also for some strange reason the 4 Ducks are not laying either?? could this be related... Mabye I am just not meant to be poultry raiser. I am in Australia.

summer here but been good weather lately so don't see that as a cause, I am absolutely lost for an explanation, and disappointed.

Lock them in the coop/run for a few days to be very, very sure they are not hiding them somewhere.

When I wasn't getting any eggs, I knew something was up when I heard one of my buffs doing her chicken song( best tell tale sign to listen for!) outside of my kitchen window one day..low and behold in the most secluded corner of the house behind the azalea bush was a clutch of 9 eggs! Start watching and listening!

Thanks for the replies, I had them locked up for a week over Christ mas, plenty of food and water and yet only 1 egg from the 8 hens...

I am almost ready to give up, before I ever even got started. Trying to hold out but dissapointing thou. I just want some eggs!!! chicken or duck..

Did you just acquire this flock? If the are new to your place, they might still be acclimating.
Is it really hot there? That can put them off too.
Sorry, just trying to think of a reason.

The 3 orphington Hens ( 12mnths old ) I have had since they were chicks. The other chickens I added around 2 weeks ago, and the ducks I have had all along.

Temperature here it's summer but been pretty mild anywhere from 60.00F - 115.00F. but like I said mild the last week or so.

I really need some answers..

Help please, surly someone must be able to shed some light on what is going on???
